For those of you wondering what’s going to be on the menu, well, you’re going to have to wait to find out - an element of surprise if you will.

However, because we listed the entree’s on the invitation (which you should have received by now!)

The chicken is a….
Cilantro and Fennell Crusted Breast of Chicken
Israeli Couscous
Sun-Dried Tomato Sauce

The striped bass is…
Sesame Crusted Striped Bass
Orange Ginger Sauce
Sticky Rice

Both are delicious, and we are certain that you would be happy with either decision!

Room Block!

The room block has been made!!

The bridal party will be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Guests can call up to make their reservations at 202-479-0027. Let them know it is for the Schmidt/Buchanan wedding block.

King rooms are $129/night for Thursday-Saturday nights and two queens are $139/night.

Reservations must be made by Monday August 10, 2009 to receive this special rate. For guests who will be driving to DC from out of town, parking is $17/day Sun-Thursday and $10/day Friday through Saturday.

Saving the Date

The save the dates will be sent out in the next week or two. Please make sure that I have correct addresses so that they don’t get returned!

Heads up to guests in the greater DC area - if you didn’t receive a save the date, don’t be surprised. We’re sending them only to guests from out of town - mostly from CT, VT and Boston areas so that they can begin to make travel plans.

Booking the venues

The venue’s have been booked. Deposits have been made. Now it’s time to get down to business. The ceremony will be held at St. Peter’s Church on Capitol Hill and the reception will be held at the Capitol Hill Club .

Both places have much significance to us as St. Peter’s is where we have been going to church for just over a year now and where I was confirmed into the Catholic Faith on Easter in 2008.

How We Met

Adam and Heidi met on August 1, 2006 on a hot DC evening over margaritas at Las Placitas near Eastern Market. They were having dinner with a mutual friend who insisted they be introduced (though surprisingly with ZERO intention of setting them up).

After that meeting, they began chatting online, and virtually stalking one another until a month later when he invited her to a Snowpatrol concert at the 9:30 Club with a group of his friends. She agreed, the night after (9/11) they met for dinner after the Congressional Remembrance ceremony (which she couldn’t get into without staff id, a detail Adam neglected to remember) and spent hours chatting about everything and nothing over dumplings at Hunan Dynasty.

A couple weeks later, the mutual friend again suggested they hang out, she was going to be out of town and since she knew Heidi was still new in town, said “hang out with Adam, he’ll introduce you to all his friends” (also for networking purposes). So they did. They went for drinks Friday, closed down Finn MacCool’s on 8th street, met for breakfast over Dunkin’ Donuts (a mutual favorite) which Adam brought to Heidi’s Pentagon City house, and spent the day watching dvd’s, and shopping before meeting for an unofficial date that Saturday night. The weekend ended the next night with a late night Capitol Tour where he twirled her around under the Rotunda of the Capitol. It was, a perfect beginning to something amazing.
